soft bro

A term used to describe a straight man, often white, who has done the work to deconstruct toxic masculinity, but is still a bro. Their social environment consists of queer women, gay man, and other soft bros.

Visually soft bros appear identical to regular bros and can often be found wearing a Patagonia jacket, short, and a cap. Unlike regular bros, they are well read, aren't assholes, and understand their privilege in society.

Just like regular bros, soft bros can be found in taverns and dive bars, drinking beers all- day -long, imbibing bottomless mimosas during brunch, and enjoying cocktails before dinner on a weeknight. Though, they will take pains to remind you non-alcoholic options are totally cool too.

"Last night Martin and I went to watch a documentary about LGBTQIA immigration policies in the US and then we hit the bar and had like at least 15 beers. He's such a soft bro! He even let me borrow his Patagonia jacket cause it was SO chilly out! He only said two problematic things all evening."

Dodgey Bros

Used in reference to an item, construction or situation of low production quality/effort. For example, poor construction of a house or easily destructible housewares.

Derived from a recurring Australian sketch comedy skit from the 80's starring two brothers, the "Dodgey" brothers, set up to look slightly like a home shopping advertisement, where they would peddle items of poor quality, or shady services.

Person A: "This house doesn't look like it would meet proper Building Regulations..."
Person B: "Yeah, it's a bit Dodgey Bros"
