Term a guy uses to refer to his lady when he is too scared of commitment to actually ask her to be his official girlfriend
He need to man up with that special friend shit before I go after her sexy ass. She's technically single, fair game!

Not to be confused with the compound word girlfriend, a "girl friend" (two words) is a girl who is your friend, but not a girlfriend.
Every guy should have a girl friend. A good girl friend is just like one of the guys, except a girl. Also, if you're going through shit with your girlfriend then it's nice to know you have a female on your side.
Girl friends don't have to be unattractive, either. But keep in mind that a girl friend shouldn't be confused with a romance interest you're trying to buddy-up first-- Girl friends remain strictly really good friends, even best friends.

My girlfriend dumped me because she thinks I lack the ability to be affectionate.
My girl friend Heather says that my (ex)girlfriend is just a stupid nympho and I'm perfectly date-able. Then we drank some beer and played Super Smash Bros.

Basically a very embarrassing situation both parties would probably like to forget. This can happen to ANYONE (Who the hell cares about gender? This can happen to homosexuals, too. Not only straight people want to find love).
A asks out B, but B doesn't want to complicate the relationship they already have (because maybe they're good friends, and no one likes loosing the chemistry or bond they have with a close friend).
In other words, not wanting to be more than just friends with someone that has feelings for you that are beyond friendship.

Example:
"Hey, B. I like you. I've liked you for quite a while now, actually. Will you go out with me?"
"WHAT? Uh, I-I can't do that, A. I'm sorry. I just want us to stay friends. Nothing more..."

When someone rejects another when asked out. Many friend-zoned people suffer from extreme butthurt over being friend-zoned, so cold and bitter definitions are posted on dictionary sites like this one. They also don't seem to understand that a man/woman has the right to reject someone if they see them only as a friend.

A best friend is someone who will always have your back no matter what. It doesn't matter what you did. They will stay by your side even if no one else does. They wouldn't care if everyone started hating them for talking to you. It doesn't matter if you've known them for ten years or one year. They don't judge you. They won't talk behind your back. At least, not anything bad. Whoever your 'best friend' is, you probably have inside jokes with them. You love spending time with them. They are almost just like family.

An unrestricted friend who chooses not to be a regular or supportive fixture in lives of people they call friends; a friend who is MIA for long periods of time then shows up and acts like nothing has happened to interrupt the normal flow of the friendship.
Sandra and I had coffee the other day after not communicating with each other for seven months. She picked the conversation like we had only gone a week without talking. She is such a deadbeat friend.
