Hide Your Power Level

What (actual) geeks have to do in situations where their nerd knowledge and/or abilities (with computers, video games, internet, et cetera) would come in handy, but using them would reveal to everyone that they are a geek. The phrase itself is taken from Dragon Ball Z. Also extends to anime fans who hide their interest to avoid being labeled as a weeaboo, or weeaboos in a social setting who actually manage to shut the fuck up for once.

1. They had a video game tournament at my college last week that even included Starcraft. Despite how well I know I would have done, I chose to hide my power level in order to keep up appearances. Hide your power level.

2. I was walking through town with friends when we happened upon what appeared to be a cosplayer gathering. Though I could name every character, when my buddy asked what the shit those guys were doing, I hid my power level and told him I had no idea.

power of friendship

A conflictingly, unproven belief that all of life's problems/obstacles can all be conquered/averted by simply believing in friendship, or the belief in others close to a particular individual or group of friends. A popular theme in both the official Yu-Gi-Oh franchise and the abridged series created by LittleKuriboh.

Téa Gardner, who appears in both the franchise and abridge series, is a strong advocate of this belief (though exaggerated far more in the abridged series).

morning deuce power hour

noun. Refers to the hour in the morning between breakfast and lunch when the hearty-breakfast crowd's sausage, eggs, and bacon finally make their way through the digestive tract. This usually results in a relatively short period of high restroom utilization.

The morning deuce power hour was fierce today! There wasn't an empty stall in the building at 10:30 AM. It must have been caused by the free breakfast tacos in the break room earlier.

star power ready

In PlayStation2's GUITAR HERO, star power is ready after your meter has reached a certain level, allowing a bonus multipler until your star power runs out. This is activated by the words "STAR POWER READY!" cueing you to sweep your guitar vertically in typical rocker style, or you can wuss out and press select for the same effect.

In real life, a person will get ballsy after realizing or hearing from his buddies that if he's "star power ready"...carpe diem, rock star! Bonus confidence and self esteem!

Guy: There goes Melissa, man I've wanted to hit that for years!
Dude: Star power ready, homeslice.
Guy: Dude...I'm totally gonna go for it this time. My star power IS ready!!!
Dude: You rock!
