Silent Greeting

An awkward half-greeting consisting of mouthing hello, with none or very little sound coming out. Only made worse when eye contact is made.

Shopper: *walks into store
Cashier: *sees someone
Cashier: "Hello!"
Shopper: "....(silent greeting)"
Cashier: "...."
Shopper: "...."
Cashier: ....can I help you?"

an extra sum of money paid to a competent person who has been lured away from his/her organization into one's organization. Such an amount is paid initially, for instance at the time of signing a contract and is over and above the regular remuneration package.

We were able to woo the CEO of our rival company into our company by offering him a handsome golden greeting.

Burris Greeting

A Burris Greeting is very similar to the "Burris wave" its the act of flipping a friend off as a joke or for fun when the teacher is not looking. Not meant to be a mean gesture. Can be used when a student makes a stupid comment or makes a joke about you and you don't have time for a comeback.

student 1: (knocks student 2's stuff)
student 2: why did you do that?!
student 1: your mom forgot to pay me
student 2: ,,|,, (or Burris greeting)
