When two individuals are very close friends and a lot of flirting is involved, they may find themselves looking for a word to describe their relationship. If they are not boyfriend and girlfriend for some reason or another, yet they love each other and spend a lot of time flirting, they are thingbuddies.

Person 1: Oooooh you and Mike are looking very close, do you think you will start going out?
Person 2: Nahhhh we're I'm just gonna be his thingbuddy.
