1. A type of scene kid typically wears tight clothing black, hair over one eye etc.
2. A fan of emotive hardcore (writes of spring etc.) who may or may not follow definition of 1.
3. a angsty teenage suburbanite who believes thier life sucks, often even when its good, may listen to emotive hardcore (or simple plan etc.), and dresses as described in definition 1. Also may slit wrists and than show of scars.
4.a derogatory term used by traditional hardcore fans to describe fans of emotive hardcore.(circa 1980's)
5. A term that is way overused in some instances*.

stupid spoilt rich kids who like to cry and cut themselves over "how hard life is". have stupid hair, usually dyed black. most of them say they are bi because they think its cool, not because they are. they listen to crappy bands such as my chemical romance, the used etc. guys wear girls skinny jeans because "theyre tighter". they have at least 1,000 myspace friends because they dont have any in real life. they can overlap with scene kids. some emos used to be chavs or preps until emo became fashionable, then they decided they wanted to be in and became emo.

emo kid 1: omg my life sucks my girlfriend just broke up with me *cries*
emo kid 2:aww lets go listen to some mcr while we cut ourselves

Emotive Hardcore music/scene kids. EMO IS NOT GOTH. to clear this up: Goths are much more dark and want to kill everyone. Emos: Less dark and only want to kill selfs. NOW that that's cleared up, emo is NOT DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL! Emotive Hardcore music came in the 90's from D.C. Two of the most famous bands from that time period: Rites of Spring and Sunny Day Real Estate. I highly recommend those ^_^. emo doesn't mean tight pants and tight skull shirts. It's a mindset.

Punk rock= Sex Pistols, The Clash, Crass, Blitz, Liberty Spikes, Leather Jackets, taking action on the establishment and kicking ass.

Emo= Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance, Wool Sweaters, Tacky clothing, guyliner,Bitching about how good your suburban lifestyles are and how mean your parents are even when they spoil you rotten.

Punk says "FUCK THOSE FUCKERS MAN KILL EM ALL."~Cliff Burton(he's metal but oh well I really wanted to put that in writing)

Emo

Emo, an Emotional Teen from the ages 13 - 18. They love music, Dark or really bright colours like Black, hot pink, lime green, and red. Not all emo people cut them self’s! They can be really smart people that have better things to do then school. They mostly really go to school just to hang out with their other emo friends or they dont go because they dont have any friends. Emo is more the fashion and music then the cutting. Emo people can have Blonde, Black, Brown and red hair. Most Emo people have some kind of hair dye. I have Blonde and blue hair. Emo people are loving people. Most Emo people are emo because something bad has happened in their life. Thier are people out there who dress like Emos but act nothing like them, these people are called posers. Most people will look down at you for being emo. But people out there are fags so just ignore them. Most emos are shy around other people but are outgoing with their friends. Emo people hate being called Goth. Emo people hate preps.
