A type of music or genre, genrally thought of as depressed & suicidal. This is not always the case, though, as many 'emo kids' are fun-loving & just like the music and the style. Often connected with scene kids.

Despite many of the other definitions on this site, the term 'emo' is actually used to describe people who have trouble controlling and handling their emotions.
not all emos cut themselves, and not all emos listen to 'emo' music, though admittedly a lot of them do...

DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN emotional or cutting yourself

ppl who are emo usually wear skinny jeans, tight sweaters/hoodies, skater shoes, studded stuff, black straight hair covering like half of the face, etc.

Nobody knows what emo is.

Ive seen people who are depressed get called emo. If i could choose what emo is, it would be a depressed kid, but theres a whole lot of stuff on here saying that its about music and people that cut themselves and wear black. So, I dont think anybody really knows what it is.

I agree with the things that say that being a non-conformist is being emo now.

Being different is being the same.

Emo 

A person who is depressed and hates life.Alot of people think people do it to be cool.There are some people who do but u forget that there are people who are truely depressed.Some of the people who do it to be cool have diferent reasons.Girls aperantly like sensitive guys so they do it to get girls and screw them,Do it to weird out there parents,and alot of other reasons.people who think evryone who is emo is doing it to be cool need to get a real look at people not everyone pretends

emo:I hate life noone understands me.
Idiot:hah ur just doing that to get atention.
Next day emo shoots himself.
Idiot feels bad and realizes some people arent fake.

An extremely annoying label for kids who do nothing but sulk about their life for attention and sympathy. (:

"So, last night I got in a fight with my parents, and I had an EMO moment again. They like, took away my phone. Now I have no way of talking to my boyfriend! THEY JUST HATE ME! No one understands me! It's not fair! I cried myself to sleep and cut myself like, 3 times.. Maybe people will be nice to me once they see how fucked up my life is.."
