freedom spacing

Freedom spacing is the practice of inserting only one space after a period in typed text. It is the alternative to "French spacing," a system in which periods are followed by two spaces.

Billy, use freedom spacing in your reports from now on. Only the ignorant or snobby use French spacing nowadays.

In Internet dating, this is the space needed in a first time meeting to gracefully bow out due to any number of factors, i.e., no chemistry, the person is not who they purported to be, or they have some weird quirk they forgot to mention.
