Gothip

Discussion of other people's habits and/or behaviour within the goth scene. This type of gossip, generally transmitted by people wearing too much eyeliner, spreads in a particularly virulent fashion due to the goth addiction to drama and the need to insult anyone who looks better in pvc pants than you do.

gotheteria

A public washhouse, ie washeteria, where goths without washing machines at home go to wash their clothes.
Gothdrettes only have 'dark wash' facilities, and are open from 11.55pm to 4.55am.
Lady Goth: Phew! You smell slightly. Too much petulia!

Smelly Man Goth: Yeah, I know. Sorry. I'm putting all my gear into a bin bag and going to the gotheteria at midnight.

Lay Goth: You putting in your boots??!!

Smelly Man Goth: Don't get dark. No one puts their heels in the gotheteria machines. They come out like death warmed up!

Gothic People

Gothic people are the best social group, unlike those popular people who hates different people and are always self centered. Gothic people are mostly people who dress up in dark colors and look, maybe act, all dark and mysterious.

Gothic people ARE NOT EMO!!! Emos are complete opposites.

Anyone who hates Gothic people are sick and should be laughed at.

Technically, Gothic means "dark" and "mysterious" not "sad" and "lonely"
Gothic People are happy, unlike Emos who should wear white so everyone won't confuse them.

Gothic Outcast

1. To have a non-gothic look and a gothic personality.
2. To actually have feelings and a nice sense of humor.
3. Someone who looks at things in a bunch of point of views.
4. To be completely different from other labels, and be outcasted for it.
5. Like to think of the dark side of things and most of the time mean thoughts.
6. Someone that does everything optional to extend and be different than the majority of people in the same school and yet act yourself at the same time.
7. Someone who wears black dickies and some weird shirt that says something funny on it and gets along with most people but nobody doesn't give a chance to know he/she.
8. Someone who puts out a false front in school or work to look happy but he/she knows they are decaying on the inside.
Hey look at that one guy over there he acts like a goth but doesn't look like one.

gothic

First of all because the term gothic has so many defnitions it has to be defined in many ways. The word Gothic was first published in 1611 in a reference to the language of the Goths. This meaning was extended in several ways to mean "Germanic" or "Barabarous" or a term for being medievil. It is also a term for an architectual style in Northern Europe between the 12th and 15th centuries which is dominated by pointed arches and emphasises hieght. Gothic is also used to describe art from the 12th to 15th C. Beginning In 1765, literature and stories that revolve around grotesque, mysterious and desolate themes were called Gothic stories because they were written in styles and about themes that were medievil and not classical.

The term 'goth' is meant for someone who appreciates gothic literature, art, style etc, not someone who wears black and is in deppression.

Goths

Right, I'm readin all the negative definitions on here about goths and most of them are probably by people who have never held a real conversation with one.

Am I a goth? No I don't consider myself one. The fact that I wear a leather trench, madfish boots and prominently black, does that make me a Goth? I am not a Satanist though, in fact my faith is a little similar to Christianity, but loosley. I have friends from all kinds of tastes - friends that are into the whole r'n'b + hiphop, peple who you could call neds, goths, emo, punk, and these so called 'normals'.

I am a very happy person and do not want to kill myself and have no intention of ever cutting myself, and neither do my friends. Yes I do think about death but only because, in actual fact, it is rather interesting because we have no idea what's going to happen. You can have your own opinion of course but no one really knows. It's fun to come up with theories, and it's a good source of conversation.

If you were to find me on a saturday in Glasgow and to have a conversation or hang about with me and my friends who get called 'goths' on a regular basis, you would probably find our company more enjoyable than the one you keep just now, not because I'm being arrogant or anything, but we don't care what you look like or what you're into, as long as you open minded and friendly.

So, basically, a goth to me is someone into a culture of sorts. A culture of romance for some, immense music and complete hyperness, but also with intelligent conversation every now and then (in my case more often than not courtesy of the almighty bryan). Most goths I know are not depressed or suicidal, but if you were to go up ask them, then it will iritate, so that's probably why you got a mouthfull or a growler. There's nothing wrong with goths, or gothic romanticism or anything like that. And anyone can get depressed, not just goths.
Goths hangin bout together: *enter laughing, joking and
randomness here*
Neds turn up: "Aw look at that mahn. Pure mad depressed
goffs int it mahn."
Goths: *now annoyed* Moronic tube
