Somebody: usually: only socialise with each other, have no fondness for exercise, are bullied at school (however these do not apply to all NERDS) always: clever, end up being the bullies boss, study hard, play hard (a recognised scientific fact: people who classify themselves as NERDS have out of all classes the most active sex life)

Person 1: He is such a NERD.

P2: Yes, but he had the highest grades in the year.

P3: Also, I see all the girls at his house all the time.

P1: But he is slightly overweight.

Usually smart, oftentimes unpopular person who has rather eccentric hobbies, ie: D&D, Star Wars/Trek, Doom, Halo, etc.. Most common gender is male, though a few female exist, such as myself.

"There was a hot nerd in the lab today,"Mary comments, sighing with a dreamy look, "He was so attractive."

nerding is a form of studying which involves more of mugging but in most ways it is used as a slang to transpose the word studying. this term coined in National Public School, Indiranagar, Bangalore (where else) is often used as a way to chide others for doing the same.

"What are you nerding?"

guy to another guy studying : dude you nerding for the test?

guy1: Dude, the test is today man! I'm dying!
guy1: Chill man, You were nerding the whole night. Why are you scared?
