love:
A feeling of unconditional affection towards someone, compounded by a feeling of deep euphoria when thinking about them.
To love someone is to trust them with your heart, because you know that they won't break it. To look into their eyes and become lost in their inexplicable beauty. To want for them to be the best person they can be, and for you to be the best you can be to match them. To strive for their happiness, above all other material needs.
Love is the greatest feeling in the world. To love, and be loved, makes all else feel unimportant. All your troubles, your worries, your cares, simply melt away.
When you find that person, the one who completes you, the world suddenly makes sense. Every little injury hurts a little less. Every sunrise seems just that much more beautiful. Every moment, your loved one occupies your thoughts; you are never truly apart.
Love knows no jealousy. No anger, held longer than applicable. No quota of wrongdoing. Love abolishes all these.
Love is not lust. They should never be held together. Lust is the desire to be linked to one's body; love is the desire to be linked to one's soul.
Sometimes, love can hurt. Sometimes, it can damage, and break, until you say I shall not love again. But love can also mend, and soothe. It can repair what once was broken, and it can bandage and prop up what has been hurt.
In the end, love cannot be described. It cannot be held up, and examined, and quantified, and studied. Love has no peer. No equal. No synonym, no foil. Love is simply... love.

Love is patient; love is kind and envies no one. Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude; never selfish, not quick to take offence. Love keeps no score of wrongs; does not gloat over another's sins, but delights in the truth. There is nothing love cannot face; there is not limit to its faith, its hope, and its endurance. In a word, there are three things that last forever: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of them all is love.

The strong emotion that gives somebody the strength to sacrifice something from themselves to benefit another.

"Love is the delightful interlude between meeting a beautiful woman and realising she looks like a haddock"
This quote is curtousy of the great programme QI
On a more serious note, love is a totally inexplicable feeling that causes the chest to tighten - almost like a pain - "the agony of love" - one finds the person's personality too perfect for words and sees their beauty as an amazing bonus. One can see positive aspects in the person that many others struggle to see.

1. A human emotion caused by a chemical imbalance of serotonin in the brain. This imbalance is comparable to that of a patient with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). The obsessive focus one gives to another, is attributed to this chemical state, though unlike most cases of OCD, this imbalance tends to correct itself over time. However, when serotonin levels return to a normal state, said love does not necessarily fall apart. Love can reach, from a scientific standpoint, a second chemical state, moving away from the more common dopamine-drenched romantic state to a calmer, Oxytocin-induced state. Oxytocin is a hormone that promotes feelings of connection, bonding and attachment, and would generally be released if you were to hug a spouse, child, or family member. Scientific studies found that Prairie voles, which have high levels of Oxytocin, mate for life. When scientists blocked Oxytocin receptors in these voles they didn't form monogamous bonds and tended, instead, to roam. It is just this feeling, this hormone, that often attributes to a successful, long term love. It is generally just this kind of love most people spend their lives searching for.
2. Simultaneously the greatest source of agony and complete and utter bliss.
3. Something that, despite all scientific research, will never truly be understood, especially by me.

Love is a funny thing.
You expect it to be easy. You expect it to be a world of roses and laughs and perfect moments that you find only
in movies.
You expect her to
always say the right thing, and
always know exactly how you feel,
or exactly how to react to it.
You expect her to calm you down when you're yelling or to chase you
when you run away.
You expect so much that you feel entirely, and utterly defeated when something doesn't exactly match up to all your plans. But that's the thing.
Love isn't a plan. It doesn't have
a certain beginning and it
certainly has no end, or a visible
finish line to those deeply in it.
Love happens; it is so
incredibly messy. People around
you can't comprehend why you do
the things you do, or why you
fight so hard for something that
seems to cause you so much pain.
Because simply, they can't see.
They can't see the invisible ring
of insanity that surrounds you
when you're in love. It's
inconvenient and painful and
devastating at times, but we can't
live without it.
What you don't learn is how hard love is. How much work it takes. How much of ourselves we have to put into it.
How it isn't worth it until we are
complete and utter idiots about it.
Love isn't her calming you
down when you yell. It's her
yelling, just as loud, just as
hard, right back at you, right in
your face to wake you up and to
keep you grounded.

I love you, more then Aladdin loves Jasmine. I love you, more then Noah loves Allie. I love you, more then Romeo loves Juliet. I love you.

Love is a complicated thing; It can start out as lusting after appearance or infatuation or adoration, yet can evolve into real love if two people continue to make the effort to make progress in getting to understand each other.
Love is a feeling that eats away at us if we don't have healthy self-esteem and the one we love isn't honest with us or with themselves.
Love is a feeling that eats away at us if we don't have healthy self-esteem and the one we love isn't honest with us or with themselves.
Infatuation is like having a crush and ignoring the person's flaws and acting dreamy
Lust is where you mainly go after a person for their body
Love is where you accept a person for who they are, regardless of flaws, personality, or interests
