Books which would contain a person or teacher topic of some sort and was passed around where other students would write mean or harshful comments about them. In other words, "slamming" them, hence the term. They came around the 1940's and have since been forgotten and are mainly nationally banned. Virtual slam books are publicised on the internet where a question will be asked and the original "book" will be returned to the author, filled in.
The origin of the name can be:
To slam students, or other faculty.
Or the book was slammed when the teacher was near.

This term is used by a category of people who have the best interest at heart but are terribly pretentious. They usually like to use it to show you how much they love to read. These people also like to say that they enjoy Fall, because it is perfect "sweater weather" and they can curl up on the couch and read whilst drinking herbal tea. Favorite movies of this category include "Rent" and "Across the Universe." Favorite music includes light alternative rock and classical. These people can sometimes be mistaken for "hipsters", but they are not because they neither smoke nor drink. You can often spot these people at museums of modern art quietly discussing the deeper meaning of a hammer glued to a toilet with pink water. These people also enjoy having deep conversations, which help them to show off their vast knowledge. They also love Jane Austen novels. These people are usually females who are often mistaken for lesbians due to their disinterest in sexual relationships until age 30. These people dream of attending college in Cambridge or Oxford due to their lifelong love of anything English.

Lucy: I just LOVE the smell of old books! Don't you?
Jim: Indeed. Wonderful sweater-weather by the way, isn't it?
Lucy: Yes, it is. I REALLY feel like some Chai tea.
Jim: Yes, sounds lovely.

Though Lukie is gifted in the area of literature, Alice has the same level of intelligence with technology, because she has helped the site progress by coding most of it and working on the non-post updates and generally keeping the site up and running. And Alice isn't that bad in lit, either. She seems to be more of an optimist.
Lukie can easily amuse the audience with her semi-explicit rants and stories, making them seem more interesting and draw you in with her talent with words. She is also good with computers, because she knows HTML and parts of other codes. Lukie is the pessimist.
These girls are very creative, talented and unique.
Over all, Ferret on a Lampshade Productions is an interesting website to visit if you're looking for their style of comedy and pessimism VS optimism attitudes.
