Bethesda Syndrome

A pattern of amnesiac, delusions of grandure & even signs of borderline insanity related specifically to media, mainly BGS, in a perpetual state of self reassurance in their products to be of above average quality & justifying their reliance on free public labour. Ie, modders, to finish their incomplete games claiming it instead as "community building" (this lies in contrast to a plethora of game releases throughout the industry releasing finished game titles that go onto gather a substantial modding community) and largely relies mainly on the nostalgiaic experiences over merit & quality.

All of which are contrary to both their ever increasing subpar quality of the studio but also their chronic declinining quality & delay of releases.

Example:
"...skyrim is undoubtedly one of the best games to have ever been made imo. it has such a large map to explore, interesting dialogue with SO many npcs, and i believe there are 18 different skills that you can master..."

While not abjectly terrible or bad, Skyrim is one of the most, buggy, janky, barebones rpgs & a downgrade from its graphically inferior but otherwise more indepth & quality releases, Oblivion, and since then has increasingly released worse titles & products that have always been outclassed & outmatched by other game studios in almost every way.
(Examples of such games: Deus Ex, Balders Gate II, Fallout 1 & 2, The Witcher 3, NieR - Automata, Kingdom Come, Deliverance, etc)

"Bethesda is gonna remaster Fallout? Dont people remember Fallout 4 Next Gen? This is a serious case of Bethesda Syndrome"

A non-standard, phonetic contraction of "better not" used as a tag question. It occurs when a speaker treats the word "better" (from "had better") as a verb, adding the suffix "-n't" to it. Linguistically, it follows the pattern of "should/shouldn't" or "could/couldn't" by turning "better/bettern't" into the easier-to-say "betten."

It's getting late and we still have work to do. We better try to finish this now, betten we?

better red than dead

Play on words of "better dead than red", which means you'd rather die than be a communist.

Better red than dead implies that capitalism has gotten so bad and companies so greedy that you'd rather be communist (as there is ideally a minimum guaranteed food ration provided from the state for free) because otherwise you'll die from not being able to afford the highly inflated price of goods necessary for human life, such as food and water.

Hardcore American: What the fuck? You think we should just give food away for free and that healthcare should also be free? Better dead than red, you commie bastard.

Average American wage slave in 2050: *sigh* I have two jobs and work 100 hours a week and never get to spend time with my family and yet I still can barely afford to feed myself and my kids... Better red than dead, maybe those commies were onto something...
