Get the nu metal mug.Heavy Metal is a great Genre. It all started in the 60s where The Kinks "You really got me" showed a perfect example of a metal riff, And steppenwolf said the perfect name for the genre in the lyrics "Heavy Metal Thunder" in the song Born to be wild (though the word thunder never made it)It was created by the legendary greats Black Sabbath in 1970. When Tony lost his fingers tips he thought he would never play again but when you replace them with plastic covers he made monster riffs never imagined to be loved forever. Heavy Metal is characterize with Rock n Roll, BluesRock, Hard Rock, and Psychedelic rock. BANds like Judas Priest, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Dream Theater are really perfect examples of true heavy metal.
In the late 70s, Metal was losing populartiy cause of such "music" such as Punk which ran in the UK, and Disco, whci ran in the US. Punk was just banging motes and making all these noices, disco would just piss you off but it died out easily (waiting for hip hop to do the same). But in 1980, Metal was brought back to live and it's rescuer's were none other than 5 men with one name, Judas Priest.

Get the Emo "metal" mug.A synonym for the sub-genre of heavy metal rock known as power metal. The earliest example of power metal is best exemplefied (acoustically) by the group Iron Maiden. Near distortionless, extremely melodic rifts, and fast beat make a glory metal song. However, true glory metal is often reffering to Tolkienesque settings, involving Dragons, Elves, heros, etc. Also known as, troll metal, epic metal, and fantasy metal.

Get the Glory Metal mug.-An excellent colorful anime full of comedy, drama, fantasy, and yes, even metal :P. I was somewhat apprehensive because of the overall apearance of the show at first (you know, big googly eyes, and manga-ish reactions) but I was pleased to see that they did this just to draw in the more immature crowd who like bright and shiney objects, etc,. The overall plot just keeps on getting thicker and thicker, with new twists and turns that is not often found nowadays in anime.
-The only thing that I can think of that is "wrong" with the show is that it has bad comedic timing, like if someone coughs blood, it gives them a split-second, almost comic-like look to them (this actually does happen).
-Though it is still not my favorite anime, it is surely making its way up my list (cowboy bebop being at the top, of course). It has a great storyline, tear-jerking scenes, (both comedic and tragic)and excellent character-development, the thing that I look for the most to define a good series.
I give this series an A-. Good job Ed and Al!
Just a small author's note: I am not what you would call a typical anime fan (though some of you may say that there is no such thing as a "typical" anime fan, you're just the kind of people I'm talking about). To give you a visual: I am 17-years-old, blonde, straight, normal/somewhat pretty, 125lb girl, who never wears rainbow stockings, OR freaky cat ears, is not in the "goth" group, or any other punk-emo whatever group....and uh...did I forget any other stereotypes, hmmm...oh well it'll come to me later. Anyhoo, I just wanted to say that so you know that you guys are not hearing from the same people over and over again.
Oh. Yea. Watch the show.

Get the Full Metal alchemist mug.A subgenre of metal that erupted in the early 90s after legendary thrash metal band Anthrax did a duet with rappers Public Enemy on their song Bring The Noize. plenty of guys liked this so as a result, many bands like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and KoRn were born. it is usually characterized by detuned guitars, pogoing, and extremely fast, whiteboy rapping. their are a few spinoff bands categorized as Nu Metal because it has a bad rap, such as Slipknot and Staind, but they really arent Nu Metal.
one thing to remember-SYSTEM OF A DOWN ARE NOT NU METAL, THEY ARE ALT METAL, LIKE DREAM THEATER WITH LESS SHREDDING AND MORE VOCALS.
