"Jeepers" is an idiom expressing suprise or frustration which was extrapalated from "Jeepers Creepers" an earlier euphamism "Jeepers Creepers" an alteration of Jesus Christ, that people used in place of profanity. Thought to be invented by comic strip writer Billy De Beck and futher popularised by Lois Armstrong in a Johnny Mercer song around 1938. The expression "Jeepers" came into popular usage in 1950s TV on the Dennis the Menace show and not as another writer stated Velma on Scoobie Doo, she used another alteranation "jinkies"

Get the jenjer mug.A euphemism for use of "Jesus" used to show that you are angry, annoyed or surprised or as an acknowledgement of another's situation in which anger, annoyance, or surprise is expressed.
Where as "Jesus", used in such a context, can be considered a swear word that many people find offensive, "Jeezers" is a concession towards softening that offensiveness. The usage is not derogatory. It is a replacement to avoid potential offensiveness in American English while not importing the use of "Crikey" from British English.
