He manages to by dumb luck fill out every single other letter in the answer leaving him with N_GGERS. The expectation by the audience is that at the last second he will answer with the word "Nagger" rather than "nigger", however at the last second the build-up to the joke concludes with a subversion of the audience's subverted expectations and the joke plays out as it would normally: with Randy answering "NIGGERS!".

Some people were expecting the guy to work himself out until he physically resembled Superman in order to keep his job. They didn't want him touching drugs, since drugs were like kryptonite, they wanted him to comply with their wholesome agenda/program. They called it lighting a fire under his ass. They could not under any circumstances, let the guy do what they were paying him to do or be human instead of superhuman, they had to turn his best efforts into bullshit over doing human shit that other humans did, and not satisfying their expectations.
