Stockholm Promise 

I think I coined a new term... you know when someone agrees to something but the ducks, dives and avoids messages or conversations about it? It is particularly common here in Stockholm, Sweden among the musicians and just people in general. I call it this the "Stockholm Promise".

Yeah he did the old Stockholm Promise by saying "we should grab a beer/coffee/whatever next week" and then disappears for next X months

Stockholm syndrome

Stockholm syndrome refers to a psychological phenomenon where hostages develop positive feelings, such as sympathy and affection, toward their captors. This occurs as a coping mechanism, a form of self-preservation where the captive may come to identify with and even defend their captor. The term originated from a 1973 bank robbery in Stockholm, Sweden.

After being held captive for weeks, the hostages developed Stockholm syndrome, even defending their captors during the trial.

Stockhole Syndrome

Stockhole syndrome is a psychological phenomenon where lower or middle class citizens develop positive feelings and emotional bonds toward their upper class managers and abusers, often even defending them and their extravagant bonuses and tax breaks. The term is a mash of ‘stock’ and ´a-hole’ since most people with wealth use stocks to borrow money tax free and avoid paying their fair in taxes like the rest of us. The term originated from a 2026 conversation on imgur when it was suggested that if people that had less than 1b in wealth then disagreed with a one time wealth tax in california, they might be siding with tax-cheats, stock a-holes, and the 1%.

Jimmy the plumber thought his neighbor who owned half of the local town needed additional tax breaks from the government so that he could upgrade his 3rd yacht to be 300’ long; textbook case of stockhole syndrome.

I don’t have stockhole syndrome; I only make 50k a year but i’m worried that my taxes will be unfair if i start earning 10m a year.

Won’t someone please think of the billionaires!

Stockholm perpetrator

Stockholm perpetrator is based on the definition of Stockholm syndrome, but it could be used in the context of for example a woman goes on a date with a Man, but she is worried that when she goes back to her apartment or her house or his living situation, she might be in trapped into a situation where she can’t escape the property additionally, another definition is with online dating you might go through a hook up with your sexual interest, you had over to their premises and it’s the last place you were last seen again because you were stuck with a Stockholm perpetrator

She went on a date with a guy last night, and she went back to his apartment after the date that was the last time she was seen her friend had a feeling that her friend was in trapped by a Stockholm perpetrator she was not able to find her friend days later despite calling her messaging her or getting in contact with her and she found it suspicious the last time she was hanging out with her friend was just before she was hanging out with the Stockholm perpetrator in the venue on a night out before she disappeared with him

Civic Stockholm Syndrome 

When citizens will watch their cities, local businesses and entire neighborhoods be overtaken, looted and/or destroyed by protesters, looters and rioters but turn a blind eye and remain silent. BUT THEN, when their overlords workplace is breeched by protests they’re outraged.

Hey remember when several square blocks of Seattle was overtaken by protesters, looters and rioters for WEEKS?! But all these people with Civic Stockholm Syndrome didn’t say anything?

Yeah, congress was breeched and everyone with Civic Stockholm Syndrome all of a sudden cares about “non-peaceful” protesters.
