relay lights

The lights that must be turned on and off in a sequential order so you can safely make it from one area of the house to another when it is dark.

I came in through the back door and had to set relay lights in the kitchen, the dining room and finally my room. I then had to turn the relay lights off in that order: the back door light, the kitchen light, and then the dining room light so I could safely make it to my room without tripping over chairs or hitting counter tops or walls.

Reluctance Length

The specific length of a persons beard (or hair) which makes them reluctant to cut it off as they have never experienced such a length. Or, because they feel that their beard has become important to them, like it's their child.

Note: Often occurs in teenagers and young adults who are notoriously shit at growing beards and tend to cling desperately to any facial hair they can muster.

Ben: Man, your beard is disgusting!
Pete: Yeah I know, but it's reached reluctance length so I can't cut it off yet.
Ben: Gross.
