Similar in nature to the 'faraway look' (she was pretty from far away, but up close she is sort of ugly). The retardaway look is where someone looks like a retard from far away, but up close looks pretty normal.

"I was in Wal Mart yesterday and there was this guy with the retardaway look working the door. From far away he looked like a retard, but when I got close he looked pretty normal."
