A phrase with fresh meaning in 2020, when people all over the world are commanded by law to stay far away from each other, when the innocent presence of another human can cause your death.

The line is from Jean-Paul Sartre's 1944 play 'No Exit".

Having been friendly and gregarious all his life, he was now forced to acknowledge that, in the present moment, hell is other people.

Hell-doggy

1.) a snake(someone who ganks your stuff). 2.) a sloppy diry person. 3.) A loser/conartist.

Someone who takes your stuff(money, clothing, ect.) and lies to your face when you confront them about doing these things when you know they did it. A Hell-doggy also doesnt have a heart.

Used (1) as a cancelling/contradicting suffix to a response, or (2) to add emphasis.

Analogous to like Hell. Not common in US English.

(1) "The city increased taxes, but did they repair the roads? Did they Hell as like!"
