throwdown phone

a throw down phone is a non-working phone that you carry with you in case you are held up by bad guys. After turning over your (throw-dwon) wallet with only a few bills in it, when they demand your cell phone, you hand over your throw-down phone and all is good.

A throwdown phone is something to carry with you whenever you are in a sketchy area and have taken the precaution of bringing a throw-down wallet. If you get mugged, this will come in handy. Dumb phone

"Dumb phone" is a coarse reference to the largely obsolete portable cellular telephones (of differing brands) made from 1983 to 1999. Majority of them were manufactured by Motorola from 1983 to 1999. Other manufacturers during that period include Ericsson, Sony, Nokia, Mobira and Oki.

Contrary to popular belief, dumb phones do not refer to feature phones (mobile phones made from 2000 - present with little features as compared to smart phones).
