The slang variant of high-key functions as an adverb and is typically used to describe a speaker's desires or emotions. High-key retains the dictionary definition of being high-intensity, not hidden, or not reserved, among others. Additionally, it can also indicate something that is overtly wanted or felt by the speaker.
