The practice of moving back and forth between two languages or between two dialects or registers of the same language at one time. This is more commonly known as code-switching and something people of color do to fit into a white society. But this specific word relates to switching the way a LGBTQIA+ person talks around other non LGBTQ people. For example using someone’s deadname and she/her prounouns around family members they aren’t out to. And then using the correct name and their real pronouns around others.
