Get the Nirvana mug.Good band of the early 90's that is often mistaken as the creator of grunge. There are 2 things wrong with that statement:
1. Mother Love Bone originated the sound, although nobody knows about them because after their first record the lead singer O.D.'d on heroin or something(Temple of the Dog is a tribute project for him with Chris Cornell and MLB's surviving members, with help from Eddie Vedder). IMO, they were also a better band.
2. Nirvana aren't pure grunge. Their first cd Bleach was probably the closest to grunge they got, the rest were more alt-rock'ish
So to say they're the best grunge band ever is a false statement as they aren't really all grunge. Although they were good at what they did, it mainly wasn't grunge. Just because a band comes from Seattle, doesn't mean they're grunge.(there are other good bands from the "grunge" era that just never hit it big that had talent as well but they were overshadowed by Nirvana and, later, Pearl Jam(who are more grunge than Nirvana))

Posibly the greatest band off all time. Fronted by Kurt D. Cobain (1968-1994) on guitar along with long time friend of Kurt's Chris (Krist) Noviselic on bass and Dave Grohl (Now with the foo fighters on vocal/guitar) on Drums.
Nirvana's first album Bleach was realeased in 1989 but did not sell well. This is the only album (apart from a later album "Incesticide") to feature Chad Channing on Drums.
Nirvana Hit it big in 1991 with Nevermind (Which unfortunatly , in my opinion, is not as good as bleach) and the song Smells Like teen spirit. This is when Nirvana-mania hit the world and the band became a global sensation.
After Nevermind came Incesticide which was intended as a stop gap album following the success of Nevermind. This album is full of Out-takes, Demo's and Non-album singles along with John peel and mark goodier BBC radiio sessions.
In 1993 Nirvana release there long awaited second major label release In utero (Bleach was released through Sub - Pop records whereas Never mind and In utero were on DGC) . This album was a harsher sounding album then Nevermind (which is what Nirvana are all about)and gave us songs such as "Heart shaped box" and "all apologies"
On the 5th of April 1994 Kurt Cobain commited suicide (although some people say he was murdered (i will leave it to you conspiricy theorists)) at his Seattle home.
in November 1994 Nirvana released the MTV: Nirvana Unplugged album (recorded 6 months prior to kurts death)
Nearly 2 years later in Ocober 1996 the second posthumus Nirvana album From the muddy banks of the wiskah was realesed. This album was a selection of live recordings from shows around the world
In 2004 10 years after Kurts death Nirvana released a box set of 3 Cd's and 1 DVD called with the lights out (a line from Smells like teens spirit)
In 2005 an album of B sides and rareties called Sliver : the best of the box was released
Kurt Cobain often wore Flannel shirts

My favourite nirvana songs are : School, Blew, Floyd the Barber, Heart shaped box, Old Age (rare) and , without sounding like someone who doesnt know about Nirvanas music, Smells like teen spirit

Get the Nirvana mug.A skilless band headed by Kurt Cobain. Nirvana is the definition of "overrated". Kurt sucked at guitar, and his vocals, although easy to like, were crap.
The worse part is that there are teenyboppers that think Nirvana is so undergroud and cool, and advirtise that they love nirvana/kurt cobain everywhere they go.

Marc: Omg nirvana is so kvlt.
Matt: No, Nirvana sucks ass, Kurt Cobain cant play guitar worth shit.
Marc: But it doesnt matter, Nirvana is so und3rground. Im cool by liking them, unlike the idiots that like mainsteam pop punk.
Matt: Nirvana is about as mainsteam as porn pics of your mom. Your just as bad as the other teenyboppers that like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Greenday.
Try listening to real music, such as Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Racer X, Old Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Dragonforce, Slayer, Ozzy Osbourne, Opeth, Pantera, Testament, Arch enemy, Black Label Society, Nile, SRV, etc.
Marc: Osht im pwnt.

Get the nirvana mug.1. A band that hipsnter teens will name whenever they're trying to sound cool or edgy by making it seem like they have "good" taste.
2. To be honest they're actually a pretty decent band but they get a lot of hate because of people like example #1. Kurt could write catchy fun songs to sing along to but at the end of the day he is still pretty low on the list of "grunge" frontmen at the time whether you rank it by singing or guitar playing, but again, they're a decent band.
And stop quoting Smells Like Teen Spirit because you think it makes you look 3dgy, it doesn't.

Get the Nirvana mug. She’s unique and like someone you have never met before. Often misjudged Nirvana is the light to a room, she can make anyone laugh endlessly and has one of the kindest hearts ever. She can be shy or timid at first but once close, Nirvana is the most fun and adventurous person you will ever come across.

Get the nirvana mug.A great grunge band, who, like it's name, is musical nirvana when listened to right. Featuring Kurt Cobain's raw emotional vocals, simple yet intricate guitar playing, Krist Noveselick's rumbling bass, and Dave Grohl's skin pounding drums, they created a template that was often imitated, but never duplicated.
However, Nirvana's music is often used very wrong. Long established as an essential and easy band for angsty whiny teenagers, Nirvana's music, however, can be bliss. Kurt Cobain didn't want his audience to wallow in their own sorrow. He wanted to use his music as a catharic experience, the type of experience that let's you defeat your own problems through music. Unlike angsty bands like LInkin Park and Slipknot, Cobain wanted to use his music the right way: an experience that makes you come out strong and wanting to confront life.
Do yourself a favor, use Cobain's music right and, just maybe, you will find your day looking much brighter and better.
