A community of people who's sexuality or gender is not defined by what is generally expected.
It stands for:
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning and the + stands for every other part of the community.

Pride festivals often happen for people who are a part of this community, as members of LGBTQ+ have had to fight for rights for years, and have just started to gain their rights back in places. Some places are yet to change this.

A: "I heard there was a pride festival going on tomorrow."
B: "what's that?"
A: "oh, its a festival to celebrate the rights that the LGBTQ+ members have fought for."
