cheerleading is more often than not mistaken as a pointless activity rather than a sport.. but that common misconception is typically coming from the ones who didnt make the cut at tryouts or simply didnt even try because they knew they had no chance. obviously sideline cheering doesnt involve any sort of competing, but it does require coordination and strength depending on how good the squad is... on the other hand... competative cheer is most definitely a sport, and to anyone who thinks otherwise im sure youve never watched a competion and i garauntee you couldnt make it through one routine no matter how "in shape" you may be... dont believe me check youtube "cheerleading worlds"

cheerleading is a sport where a positive and smart group of fit girls and boys show spirit and perform for people to show them what they've been practicing. usually they partice 3-5 times a week before competing. they work hard during school and at practice. its also very expensive. the uniforms are short most of the time because they need room in their clothes to move around since they are always active.
its something most girls enjoy;; if you havent tried it then you shouldnt be saying mean things. everyone is like family and the coaches wouldnt let that change.

maile: did you hear what they were saying about you??!
jannet: yeah i did. but cheerleading is my activity i love to do on my time so ill ignore them. not everyone has the same opinion.

there ware two kinds of cheerleaders
1.Girls and sometimes guys that cheer and spirit for their football and basketball teams (sometimes other sports). They are there to encourage the team and pump up the crowd. They are also encouraged to be role models for the school and lead their peers.
There are 3 types of these cheerleaders. Recreational and school or college cheerleaders.
2. Competitive cheerleading is a team that creates a routine that incorporates elements from gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, and acrobatics(stunts). The routines are two min. and thirty sec. in length and have strict guidelines set by the AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and advisers. There are three types of competitive teams..
Allstars - only compete
broken down into many subdivisions such as mini junior senior ext. and levels 1-6
they can be co-ed or all girl and limited and unlimited
College/High school - cheer for a school and compete
broken down into small medium and large varsity
also J.V.
can be coed or all girl
and building or non building
Recreational - cheer for a rec team and compete
They are judged on many things from artistic ability and sharpness and execution of moves and stunts to loudness and ability to involved the crowd.

definatley a sport.
no cheerleading for a school and screaming and yelling sidelines isnt very athletic. but for anyone who SAYS it isnt a sport .. have you ever actually tried it.
theres no offseason! there CONSTANT conditioning, and lifting people in the air and controlling their ankle while their lifting their legs above there head isnt exactly easy either. you dont know endurance until you practice a full out routine over and over and over again every single day. allstar cheerleading is way more hard then you think, and its a proven fact that cheerleading is the number one sport for catastrophic injuries, so dont even say its not dangerous. i could give a million definitions of cheerleading, and all the stregth, flexibility, years of hard work, determination, passion, endurance, and injuries that cheerleaders go through. but im sure any person who has sense should know ....
idiots.

ok yeah, i hate when people say cheerleading is not a sport and its just a little kiddy one. have you ever been to a real cheerleading competitonn? seen videoos on youtube? seen pictures? try being those bases, backspotter, nd flyer. i am a flyer nd i know what i am talking about. you need balance flexibilty braveness nd trust. the competitons make you wanna pee yhur pants. what if i dont remember the 3 mintue route i have to remember?! what if i drop a stunt?! what if i fall out of a stunt nd get hurt?! cheerleading is a lot of competing nd you can get injured bad. falling out of a stunt with nobody catching you. sound scary? having a girl fall on yhur head. sounds like it hurts? doing a tumble wrong nd falling on yhur face. sounds like a few broken bones? nd more so next time you thiink cheerleading is a little kiddy sport look up "cheerleading" on youtube or google. nd if you still think so try it one time then youll get the giss. kthanksbye!
