A term used in reference to intimate relations practiced by people who are uncomfortable with both relationships and relationship anarchy because they can’t wrap their minds around the concept of genuine companionship that happens to include sex — because apparently ‘FWB’ doesn’t refer to actual friendship — unless it is constantly being forced into a concrete, restrictive, linguistic definitions because of the idea that if there are feelings, the dynamic must change to use relationship labels to coddle our insecurities instead of working to improve ourselves.

Noun: a mutual understanding between two parties who are deeply infatuated with another, and wish to enter into a romantic relationship, but are hindered by one of a myriad of circumstances surrounding one or both parties, such as a career, house rules, state/federal law, proximity to one another, etc. The two parties behave as they would with other compatriots until a romantic relationship is open for pursuit.
Male High Schooler A tries to ask out Female High Schooler A. Female explains she already in a situationship with Male a high schooler B. Female High Schooler A isn’t allowed to date in high school, parent rule, so she and Male High School student B are remaining in a situationship until Graduation, or their feelings for each other fade away.
