pop punk

An oxymoron, said to be non-existant by "hardcore punks." A easier to handle version of the genre punk.

pop punk

A very good music genre or subgenre. Instrumentals sound like a watered down punk, vocals sound somewhat like pop. People who listen to this do NOT shop at Hot Topic as assumed by many. People who listen who listen to this dress either white ghetto, preppy, sporty, or just jeans and a shirt. Sadly the famous Pop Punkers try to look punk :(

This music is not listened to by weird, dressed in all black, rejected, suicidal FREAKS. Although those freaks often tend to make fun of and bash Pop-Punk, all I have to say to them is get a life and stop slitting your wrists. The only reason Pop-Punkers "sellout" to MTV is because they arent afraid to show their faces on mtv, because unlike real punks they are not freaks.
Examples of really awesome Pop-Punk bands: blink-182, Sum 41

pretty good Pop-Punk bands: yellowcard, simple plan, good charlotte, new found glory

btw Millencolin (skatepunk) and Green Day (punk) and offspring (punk) are really awesome too.

pop-punk

Pop: fads that are popular or mainstream, including music.

Punk: an movement of people and fads that go against what is popular and mainstream.

Pop-punk: stupid not-tallented bands like good charlotte and blink. they sound punky, but are corprate sell outs and therefore CANNOT by definition be punk at all. The entire point of punk is to be reafreshingly defferent from the mainstream of pop. So you can't mix them.
pop and punk are like oil and water.

pop punk

A term that many people misuse, as they confuse it with 'popular punk'. Pop punk is punk with poppy hooks, while popular punk is, as the name indicates, popular, and a very watered down version of punk.

Examples of pop punk (also known as skate punk):
NOFX
Lagwagon
Bad Religion
Pennywise
88 Fingers Louie
Anti-Flag
Rancid

Examples of popular punk:
blink 182
Yellowcard
Simple Plan
Good Charlotte
NOFX is a good pop punk band.

pop-punk

A big Oxymoron really its just an excuse for sad bands that think there punk whereas in reality there just rock emo or some other genre the people associated with it are people all over MTV and the Radio but the saddest thing of all is im 13 and there about 18-40 and i have a better understanding of punk than them.
NOTE: these are mainly my opinions on 'pop/punk' you dont have to agree but dont you dare go round saying that the bands bellow are punk oh and i dont think Bands like NOFX Rancid Bad religion are Pop/punk there just toned down punk in my eyes
Ehem Pop-punk bands are Green Day,Blink 182,Good Charlotte,Fall out boy, bowling for soup. A few of these bands think they are the punkest bands in the world but are far from punk at all *wink wink* green day there just boring deprressing rock
