The roastings began when people would honor a person by poking fun at them or their career.

When two or more people are talking about each other, normally in a joking manner in order to make the people around them laugh

Boy 1: Now I'm roast in yo pop tart toaster struuuuudle lookin' ass
Boy 2: I know yo gobble gobble cluck neck ass ain' roastin'

roastin

The saying "Roastin" first originated with the black comedian Beetlejuice. He claimed when black people go out in the sun, they don't tan, they "roast." After watching this show that featured Beetlejuice, our group of friends started using the word the way Beetle used it. We would be outside in hot weather (and/or in the sun) and exclaim, "Man, It's Roastin out here." This is where our definition of Roastin was created. So, in summation, "Roastin" is just a cooler way to say "it's hot outside today" or how good looking a girl is.

Man, I'm roastin!

Roastin a stoge

When a person (typically one who is underage) who is not permitted to smoke a cigarette for whatever reason believes is being watched by an individual who will bust him for his smoking, cups the cigarette for a long period of time.

Teenager #1: "We went out to smoke a butt and Josh just sat there roastin a stoge 'cuz he thought his mom was watchin him."
Teenager #2: "That kids mad sketchy. Let's smoke a bowl."
Teenager #1: "Ok."
