Rexdale is a neighbourhood in the northern part of Etobicoke, part of the city of Toronto, Canada.
It was developed in the 1950s by Rex Heslop, for whom it is named.
Recently, Gun violence and gangs have scarred the community, most recently in a shooting this summer that interrupted a four-year-old's birthday party. Four men were wounded.

Rexdale is a culturally-diverse, working-class neighbourhood occupying the North-West portion of Toronto. Although known for gang activity and high crime rates, Rexdale is no more dangerous than most of Toronto as a whole. You'll rarely see graffiti or discarded needles, and the people there can be super-nice - you just gotta treat 'em like human beings; smile and they'll smile back. Get on the bad side of the wrong people, you might get the shit beat outta you.
Hipsters from downtown will tell you the area is predominantly black (and therefor dangerous, because they're a pack of racist assclowns), when in reality, the area is generally a mix of Canadian citizens and immigrants from Italy, Eastern Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and India. The area is poor, yes, but frankly, I'd much rather deal with the "gangstas" from the Rex than the pretentious fucks from Wood-a-bridge.

rendale is amazing and is always the person to make you laugh and some one you can always count on and that always have you back. hes that person that likes to watch anime and dosnt let alot of people in but when he dose he hopes to god hes done a right thing. he has never lost a fight and is not a tyipcal man. rendale is a unique person with his awesome and sexy ninja self. rendale is a person that dosnt try to please the world if you dont like him the way he is he dont care. rendale is a guy that fights for what he knows he wants and wht he thinks is best. he has his typical guy moments when he thinks like any othrt guy but other the that rendale is one of a kind guy thats rsre to find so if you do love him with all you got

I have four cousin that live there. I visit them every now, and then. It is indeed a neighborhood plagued by extreme poverty. Three of my cousin's friends have been killed so far, and there's probably more coming.
To top it off, two of my cousins are in a street gang, so I worry about them as well. I used to enjoy coming down there as a kid, but now that I see it for what it is, it's sort of depressing. While I'm playing computer games, and trying to find a part time job, they're out robbing stores, and getting into gang fights.
