Bulgary is perceived by the Dutch people as the country of Bulgaria.
The misunderstanding comes from the fact that in Dutch the names Bulgaria and Hungary sound similar: Bulgarije and Hongarije.
Parallel can be drawn when Bulgary people ask people from the South of the Netherlands: "Spreek je Hollands?"
