jumped the shark 

Refers to a 1970's TV sitcom. It had a main character known for being the Coolest guy on TV (The Fonze). As the series entered one of its last seasons, the writers had this oh-so-cool guy waterskiing in his trademark leather jacket, to jump a shark. It was truely the moment when the series went downhill from there and was soon mercifully cancelled.

Rober Jordans book series 'The Wheel of Time' jumped the shark in book four and has gotten worse ever since.

Humping the shark 

The act of reviving or perpetuating a once relevant TV program, movie franchise, etc. that has already passed its peak (i.e., jump the shark) in the selfish hope of getting more money or compensation (e.g., fame) out of it. Ultimately, the perpetrators/propagators get a nasty surprise when they find out the "shark" is no longer fit for "humping".

"Did you hear they're making a film about golden retriever puppies that play rugby? It's called 'Scrum Buddies'."
"Wow, those guys sure are humping the shark with all the 'Buddies' movies."

flipping the shark 

Tranaitive Verb; The act of putting a woman into a trance like state and sexually submissive state through the discovery of a sensual or sexual action (hair pulling, fingers in her mouth, gentle biting of her neck etc.) towards her that causes said trance/sexually submissive state which is similar to the state of a shark when flipped upside down.

Last night with Brittany, I was flipping the shark by putting my fingers in her mouth to suck on! Her eyes rolled back in her head! That's interesting Bob because I flipped the shark with Ariel by pulling her long blond hair back hard. Flipping the shark is fun once you get the hang of it.
