Slang for a preemptive action. Can also be used as a manipulation tactic.

"Confront the problem before the problem confronts you."
Most likely will require admittance to involvement in a relevant or apparent issue.
Viewed as personal accountability; although often a power-leveling move to prevent or avoid (more) trouble and/or lessen the impact.

(AKA say all the bad things about yourself in a rap battle so your opponent has nothing to say about you & they lose).

"Boss is pissed you're late today, once you get here make sure you 8 mile it."

"I'm 8 miling it. I'm texting her to apologize before she has a chance to come at me. I don't want to get uninvited from the trip."

"How did he not get fired?"
"He 8 miled it. Before the meeting, he came in and apologized, said it was from his mental health surrounding his divorce."
