nuclear excursion

A euphemism for an accident or screw-up at a nuclear power plant.

Power-plant manager: "Yeah, we had a nuclear excursion last night..."

Power-plant worker: "He means, we barely avoided leaking millions of litres of highly irradiated water vapour into the atmosphere."

community transmission

Medical euphemism, roughly translated , "We have no fucking clue how, where, or who you caught the virus from".

"We phoned all of your direct contacts in the past fourteen days... (Yeah, we dialled the number you gave us for the girl whose name you didn't know.) We're marking it down as: "community transmission".
