SHOOTAN GAEM

A pejorative term used to refer to video games deemed, by the user, as generic exercises in mindless action/shooting. Typically referring to a game of the FPS genre.

The capitalization and intentional misspelling of "game" attempt to mimic the crude online vernacular of the "typical" SHOOTAN GAEMer, assumed to be teenagers and those lacking in cognitive ability.

The phrase can also be altered and applied to other game genres, usually referencing the most most base, repetitive aspect of a genre's gameplay. A common example is "GRINDAN GAEM", applied to RPGs and MMOs, mocking the repetitive combat and level building, or "grinding", necessary for in-game advancement.

Originated on 4chan's /v/ (video game) image board.
"Why would I want an Xbox 360? All they release for that system are generic SHOOTAN GAEMS!"

idort

A person claiming allegiance to both sides of an argument concerning video games, most commonly referencing ownership of multiple video game consoles. Essentially the opposite of a fanboy.

Typically appears as part of the phrase 'LOL NO U DONT IDORT", the speaker of which would perceivably be an enraged fanboy refusing to acknowledge the claims being made by said "idort". Though intended as an insult, the outburst instead reflects upon the juvenile nature and simple-mindedness of the speaker, placing the "idort" as a cool, calm and collected alternative to the oft-rampant jingoism and bias found within the gaming fandom.

Originated in an MS Paint comic widely circulated around 4chan's /v/ (video game) board, with the proto-idort claiming ownership of both the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP handheld gaming systems.
"I think that both Halo 3 and Killzone 2 look entertaining, and intend to purchase both upon release for their respective systems."
