Intentionally trying to "not offend" unnecessarily. The word ordering is important. This is different from "trying not to offend" since while the former puts effort into ensuring that no offense occurs unless necessary, the latter views accidental offenses as "natural" and allowable. This is a prescriptive definition.
People don't show each other respect like they used to. They've become too self-centered, expecting to receive respect before giving it.

The willful adoption of a responsibility to benefit the beloved while holding no reasonable expectation of reciprocation. What counts as beneficial is based entirely on the lover's understanding of the beloved. Since people don't even fully understand themselves, let alone anything not themselves, it is reasonable that sometimes what the lover expects to be beneficial to the beloved will either be ineffectual or negatively impacting. This is a prescriptive definition.
Lots of women seem to love shopping and drama for some reason. Many children love ice cream. I love my children. I loved my wife all of her life.
