walking in fours

'Walking in fours' is a police technique for patrolling an extremely dangerous neighborhood on foot, and suggests a very aggressive assertion of authority. The phrase is sometimes extended to 'Walking in fours and kicking down doors', that is, breaking into people's houses to effect raids for drugs or guns, or to create a sense of terror.
'They walking in fours and kicking down doors,' said an inmate of East L.A. looking to get somewhere else in a hurry.

Also with quotes: "'Dead' is dead", "'dead' is 'dead'", etc. The theory that in postmodernity nothing is ever out of fashion, anything from the past may come back, 'everything old is new again,' etc.

showdown

(noun) conclusive encounter or contest. From poker, where at the termination of betting the hands of the players who are still in the game are laid on the table and compared to determine the winner. Also used metaphorically. Sometimes "throwdown" is used with this meaning.

wig

The appearance or persona which one chooses to create for public view, as opposed to the 'real' self; the constructed public self. Hence 'wig out', to lose control of oneself, sometimes shortened to 'wig'; 'burned his wig', to depart terminally from normal behavior, or cause someone else to do so; 'blow someone's wig', to stun or astound someone.
Joe blew his boss's wig this morning by appearing in the office on time. The man is still gibbering.
