Being young and inexperienced is tough, you know there is a right moment to wait for, and you also know that does you no good if you're not ready to strike at the right time, you haven't always found a balance or a rhythm yet, and you get thrown out of rhythm before you find your rhythm, it can happen to a vet with years of experience and too many medals to count. Really if you're happy with a silver or bronze, or even just showing up, your country is with you no matter what, even if you don't look, act, or think like they do, and they're not going to stop believing in you if you don't stop believing in you. Really it is only you that ends up letting yourself down or being disappointed at the end of the games. A little bit of extra pain to endure and fight through for a gold might not be worse than a few years of frustration for you, but it's really nobody else's split second decision to make.
There's really just one thing that would defeat the purpose of going to the Olympics in the first place for the men's track, and that is give up because of a few stumbles. Whether you win or lose, you might as well fight through to the end, especially if you're young and you're going to be doing it a lot in the future. Starting a habit of giving up isn't going to get things done for you, and showing yourself or your teammates some tough love isn't the same thing as hating yourself/yourselves if you don't win a gold medal.

Why did the crew think that the fuselage of the airplane was a good spot for the zeppelin to park her fat ass? If the zeppelin started to maneuver around, how was the crew going to keep themselves and the other passengers from getting chopped up to bits by the propellors? Good thing the guy with balls of steel or titanium alloy was there for the zeppelin to keep it from exploding or deflating, he must've been at least part robot.

Why does it matter whether someone is a conservative tennis player or a liberal soccer player if they are trying to win a medal and not a vote?
The Olympics is not an election or a political rally, so what does politics have to do with any of it?

Though auto racing is not a true sport (just like golf is not a true sport) the people that think football events have the most brutal or horrific injuries don't know what happened to Russell Phillips.
What happened to Daryl Stingley was hard to watch, but people were puking in the stands and fainting after watching what happened to Russell Phillips. Had he imploded, it might have been more brutal to watch, but it's hard to think of something more brutal that could happen to somebody that thought/hoped they were just going to win something and then go home afterward that day.

The human race (the one and only race there is) will only be allowed to give full and equal credit to the strength and heroics of both sexes (and all people, regardless of what they look like or who they fuck, whether it be the same or opposite sex) when they are finally allowed to give credit to all human weakness equally, and not focus on just the male half of human weakness. And thanks to human weakness, those days might be a long ways off, as human weakness tends to keep things off balance and off any course that could become/turn into anything but bullshit.
Once humans can honor all weak people equally (regardless of "race", sex, religion, orientation, any other category) they can finally begin to honor the strength in all people equally (regardless of "race", sex, religion, orientation, any other category). One day you might see a black James Bond, a female triple X, a gay or lesbian president, or anything else you can imagine, but that can only be if human weakness is honored as well (and without waking up and fighting, that won't happen).

Freedom with conditions, such as getting a vaccine/shot to receive freedom isn't true freedom, as true freedom is without conditions. They wouldn't be offering people free beer or incentives to get vaccines if it was, it's just another way to try and buy the masses into doing what they want them to do, like a herd.

A guy that most people would think of as bad publicity or a way to lose money if seen with him these days. A guy most artists that made songs with him in the late 90's early 2000's would no longer sit with at the cool "grown" kids status table.
If Ja Rule was at a bar with Jay Z and DMX and 50 cent walked in, not only would he have to give his seat up to 50 cent, but Jay Z and DMX would help 50 cent drag their "friend" Ja Rule out of the bar.
