Roberta Ford always made herself look put upon (even sub serviant to others) , but what she said was done at her expense, never really costed her anything, she always escaped from having any real expense to herself in life.

Vicious
Someone that says they smell blood every time a local team loses a sports game, since that is how uber competitive and desperate they are to win at the next thing.
The football/basketball/baseball/hockey/soccer/any sport game was a stupid fucking game and not a feeding frenzy, but the vicious girl treated everything in life like it was kill or be killed, eat or get eaten. She might have felt subconscious insecurity about spending most of her life in a rabbit hole, trying to avoid anything that might eat her alive.
