Plot 

To plot is simply to plot. Any time someone thinks about doing something to some other person, place, or thing. This can include bodily harm, or any other form of plottage.

plotter 

A person who plots.
A person who plots on a regular basis.
A person who has indeed plotted before.
A person who is currently plotting.

Doyle: What in the hell are you doing with that lawn mower blade Karl?
Karl: I aim to kill you with it, Mmmhmm

This part taken out of sling blade shows that Karl, is indeed plotting on Doyle, making him a plotter.
