A sumbitch is a derogatory word used by Appalachian hillbillies to degrade a person. It comes from the phrase “son of a bitch; however, the Appalachian hillbillies mispronounced the word and it never ended and is still used to this day.

A person you might consider a friend, yet they go through your belongings and steal from you in small quantities so that it isn't easy to detect.
