Trabbi 

German slang for a Trabant, just about the crappiest automobile that has ever been built (our Edsel running a close second), with some parts made out of cardboard, yes, CARDBOARD, an engine that seems like there's a mouse running around on a rubber band, and thick noxious black smoke constantly spewng from the exhaust. Once junkheaped, this car is a recycler's nightmare: along German roads and in junkyards, you'll see thousands of them in various stages of decay, littering those places.

Fritz had a car that suggests his name: a Trabbi, always on the fritz.

nkotb 

A newcomer, whether a novice or someone in a responsibility-laden profession, who is new to his/her job. Pronounced 'en-kay-oh-tee-bee"; an acronym for "new kid on the block".

Mrs. Stamatis is an nkotb. Let her get used to her new job. She's a little stressed out from the change.

Italian of the Mideast

An Armenian person, because of the joie de vivre that Armenians have, much like Italians, and the fact that Armenian is a language very well-suited to music, like Italian.

Mrs. Khachadourian is an Italian of the Mideast---when she speaks Armenian, it rolls off her tongue like music, just like Mr. Giannini when he speaks Italian.

slurper 

A bad head cold, the kind that makes your nose drip constantly. From the slurping sounds made by sniffling, and the sounds of noodles being slurped by one with such a cold.

I have a real slurper today. And I know who gave it to me. Someone was coughing right in my face on the train three days ago!

Not a newly discovered gemstone but a word for: 1) one of the ropes found on a tall ship's yardarm; a sailor.

The clewgarnet sang: "...haul up the clewgarnets/Let tacks and sheets fly".

wow and flutter 

Speed variations in a turntable,phonograph, or cassette player that cause irritating flattening in pitch with sour notes (wow) and/or garbled notes with jerky sharpening in pitch (flutter). Often heard from poorly manufactured, old, or poorly-maintained audio equipment. In the ages when LPs and audio cassettes were the only audio media available, stereo/high-fidelity magazines often used to rate audio components with wow and flutter specifications ranking at the top of the list.

George, your turntable has some nasty wow and flutter. The music sounds sour. It looks like it needs a new belt around the platter.
