POPO

A Police officer. especially the ones that rides on bikes.

Orgin: California late 80's

police officers that patrols certain beaches on bikes wore a vest that said PO in huge blockletters on each of their chest. which means Police Officer. they usually ride around in group of two's.

when you see them coming by. you see the word "PO" "PO" when they stand next to each other.

shank, shanked

orgin: prison slang

A homemade knife.

made out of scrap of metal found anywhere and sharpend like a knife. and bottom tightly wrapped with a cloth as a handle.

shanked.

to be stabbed by a homemade knife.
"CrookedEye John" got shanked up..

I heard he got hit with a rusty shank.

to refer to somebody of the same race or family.

Orgin: blackpanther slang late 60's.
"hey blood? you got a lighter on you?".

a patrol car.

Orgin: late 80's Cali.

back then all police cars at one time where Mustangs, 5.0 engine model, on the front and side of the car it read in chrome letters the engine model. 5.0.

it refers to the car they patrol in.

now it also refers to the police officer himself.
"5-O keeps making rounds through my neighborhood like we are causing problems".

Refers to the City of Los Angeles.

Orgin. Late 90's LA HipHop

derived from cartoons. where a charachter walking thru the forest or park singing "LA LA LA LA" in a happy mood. but taken and used sarcastically.
"LA LA Land is no place to be at night".

"Man why is everyone moving out of LA LA Land??".

Removing or Kicking somebody out.

Orgin: 1940's? bartender slang.

bartenders use to switch 100% proof to 86% proofs after a person got drunk. cuz the loaded person couldn't tell the differnce. and when person falls asleep at the bar they would get booted out. this would help them get more customers and save up for the more stonger and costly proofs everybody wants.

now it is used to mean to get rid of something or a person (not at bars).
haha! I saw james passed out cold outside of the bar! he been 86'ed.

you got to 86 that gold tooth man.. that shit is tacky.
