MHz

Pronunciated: "Megahertz" not "M.H.Z."

Megahertz means 1000 kilohertz (kHz) and kilohertz means 1000 Hz (cycles per second)

1 MHz = 1000 kHz = 1,000,000 Hz
Wow, sense I listen to DC101, who has a transmitter on 101.1 MHz, thats 101,100 kHz, which is 101,100,000 Hz (cycles per second)

APCO P-25

New digital modulation type, labelled as "APCO Project-25" P-25 pretty much is the same modulation that cell phones use. P-25 is supposed to give better voice quality, but there really is no differance. Plus I need to buy a new radio scanner now.
There are two types of P-25, 3,600 baud and 7,200 baud speeds.

Apollo 13

see also successful failure

Less then one year after man first walked on the moon Apollo 13 was simply a "routine" flight until a faulty thermostat caused an oxygen canister to explode, blowing an entire side of the spacecraft away, the ship eventally starts leaking oxygen and the crew (Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise) have to survive in the Lunar Module until they can safely make it back to earth. But they didn't get to play with moom rocks.
