He was killed in 1998 along with the majority of his family during a Serbian police raid in the village of Prekaz, in the Drenica region.

Get the bac u kry mug.(Serbo-Croatian, n.) - "Švabo" was first a mean word for Danube Swabians—Germans in old Yugoslavia from 1945-1992. Now, it's used to call out people of Balkan descent in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, especially if they seem well-off.
The term started as a dig at the Danube Swabians for being too fancy due to their German connection. Most got kicked out during World War 2 and when Yugoslavia formed. After Yugoslavia broke up in 1992, "Švabo" started including Germans with Balkan roots. It mixes history, hard feelings, and culture clashes.
Today, saying "Švabo" usually isn't nice. It often comes from jealousy of Germany's good life compared to the Balkans. This is strong in summer when Balkan-origin folks in Germany go back to their home countries. The word shows tension and inequality feelings, blending history, culture, and money stuff.

Get the Švabo mug.(English, verb) - A sardonically sarcastic verb towards landlords - often times the well off individuals that own public housing such as apartment buildings and townhouses as financial and profit-accruing assets in places they do not reside in - and a verb indicating solitude and sometimes disgust towards their tenants that are being increasingly exploited by the housing market, through means of forcing them to pay more to stay in the areas they live in.
During the heated debate about rising rents in the city, Sarah couldn't help but retort using an egregiously sardonic comment, telling those to "tip your landlord", indicating that landlords often care more about their profits more than the well-being of their tenants, and that those who live under them should keep giving more to force them to suffer under their own irresponsible decision making.

Get the tip your landlord mug.(Slovene, n.) A "čefur" is a pejorative word used against non-Slovenes within their own country. The word is a calque that came from "kaffir", which means disbeliever in Arabic. Usually, this word is used towards ex-Yugoslavian people that work/reside in their country, such as Serbians, Croatians, Bosnians, Montenegrins, Macedonians, and Albanians. However, this word can also be used towards anyone that isn't even from Slovenia itself. In most cases, it's seen as offensive and a word that you shouldn't ever use.

Get the čefur mug.(n. Albanian) This word is used to denote anyone that does not speak Albanian, or is not Albanian themselves.
Usually, this word is used in a derogatory manner towards many of Albania's (un)friendly neighbours, such as the Serbs, Montenegrins, and Macedonians.
To a smaller extent, this can be used to denote Croats and Bosniaks, but in some case the Albanians of Italy use the words "shklan" and "shklerisht" to denote Italians, and the Arvanites of Greece use the word "shkla" to denote Greeks.
Although to Albanians, this isn't a word that's just supposed to be rude and offensive. However, to minorities of Albanian-majority communities, this word is often meant to degrade them and negatively portray them as a 5th column in their community.

Get the Shkije mug.(Serbo-Croatian, n.) This is an extremely offensive word towards Muslims that are native to the Balkans, in a rough translation it means "turkified" or to "turn into a little turk".
Primarily used by Serbs and to a lesser extent Croats, this word has historical connotations to the Ottoman campaign in the Balkans where they held the region for roughly 500-600 years. During this time, many have converted to Islam and have been given prominence in Ottoman society and well-paying job opportunities, hence to "turn into little turks". To the Christians of the region, they see this as "betraying their forefathers who have rejected Christ and converted to Islam becauss they wouldve been killed for not doing so", even though there are various for the highly reported coversions in the region such as being persecuted by Serbs/Croats/other Christian-dominated groups, or merely due to land ownership opportunities.
Normally, this word could be used against Bosnians, Albanians, and Torbeš Macedonians.

Get the poturica mug.(UK, MLE, n.) A badmon/badman is what a roadman would refer to himself in London. The word itself comes from Jamaican Patois. People involved on road never say they're a roadman, because nobody actually says that since it sounds off-putting. One calling himself a badmon/badman is essentially saying (or claiming) that he's involved, however in some cases that person is desperate for clout.
