Middle Passage

Passageway between two subway cars used almost exclusively by black or Latino youth while the train is in motion.

Despite the explicit warning that passage between cars is dangerous and prohibited, you will inevitably witness a minority youth carelessly passing between cars, usually while holding their pants up with one hand or adjusting their hooded sweatshirt.
While on the Red Line, I witnessed an Englewood homeboy utilizing the middle passage between cars somewhere between Jackson and Roosevelt.
