Proto-Meta

When someone (usually in a fighting video game, but any game applies) is using a very uncommon, yet intelligent, strategy, bug, or combo to help themselves progress or win. If the strategy catches traction, it moves on into the new meta.

(also spelt "meta-gaming") Definition 1: An act or strategy, either in a game or in real life, that a character, player, or person does that is intelligent in a way that may seem beyond others' expectations of them.

Definition 2: (in a satirical sense) Something so stupid or unskilled that the only way to make fun of it by acting like the person is a genius.

(Definition 1:) "Dude, Fran Bow was metagaming like crazy, how was she so calm after all that?!?!"

(Definition 2:) "Yo, did you see Donald Trump's letter to Denmark? He was fuckin' metagaming with that one."
