characters isn't defined yet, but these are close:
1. Neglected Mario Characters
NC for short. Website run by Jay Resop which glorifies Nintendo characters other than Mario. Famous for it's witty "comix" which constantly make 80s-90s pop culture references.
Neglected Mario Characters is a very cool website.

3. Rule 151
"There are always more Pokemon"

Essentially applies to series (of any franchise) which frequently add characters to an already massive pool of characters (although not necessarily negatively). However, In a more negative-context, sometimes this term may refer to the observation of a series feeling "over-crowded" with characters.

The term is along the lines of various other enumerated "rules" of internet (such as rule 34 and godwin's law.

Rule 151 comes from the Pokemon franchise, as there is constant expansion of the number of various 'monsters' in the games/series.
As said before, this can be applied to anything, not just the Pokemon franchise, but also to other things which seem to demonstrate a similar tendencies.
"They just added another bunch of characters to my favorite series of books, I'm worried that the series is beginning to feel crowded"

"Rule 151. As long as the series runs, there are always more characters to add"

OR

"The new Pokemon games just came out. But I'm not sure how many more monsters they can come up with"

"Well, Rule 151"
4. Dramatic Ignorance
Dramatic Ignorance (n.)

Unlike in dramatic irony in which facts are not known by the characters but are known by the audience, in dramatic ignorance, authors must pretend that their characters are more ignorant than they normally would be to take into account the actual ignorance of the audience.
An example of dramatic ignorance can be found on CSI on which the following dialogue might be heard:

(Scene: Las Vegas hotel room. Sara Sidle sprays a liquid on a bed.)

Gil: What are you doing?
Sara: I’m spraying Luminol to find blood trace.

This dialogue is absurd for the characters because Gil, of course, would know what Luminol does. The dialogue is there for the benefit of the viewer, who may have actual—not dramatic—ignorance of basic forensics
5. Dead or Alive
A 3d fighting game which is yet another ripoff of SEGA's Virtua Fighter, except that Dead or Alive caters to the lowest common denominator by featuring female characters with perfect bouncing breasts and plenty of panty-revealing kicks. Basically, the virtual chicks practically make the game sell itself well since, after all, there are plenty of sexually-repressed teenage/college males out there who will never score with a real girl anyway.
I couldn't stop playing Dead or Alive 3 today because I was drooling when I did a 9-hit tag-team combo with the female characters Kasumi and Helena. ^_^

6. Chrono Cross
The sequel to Chrono Trigger which has over 40 characters, most of which are crappy and you'll never use them, but they show up to annoy you anyway. Like the prequel, it has several different endings, the main ending rewards you with three hours of Kid talking. I'm sure she says...useful things. I fell asleep, I don't know.
Chrono Cross is the sequel to Chrono Trigger, and it would be okay if it weren't for characters like Mojo and Starky.

7. blapanese
All those of non-caucasian, non-Japanese descent who own a Honda Civic with japanese characters on the back, or who are not Oda Nobunaga or any other samurai (including Ghost Dog.)
Those characters and that gaudy samurai helmet make you look wapanese. Mufucka. And you ain't the author of the Hagakure.
