rant

to talk passive aggressively about something without having the guts to take real action. ranting usually takes place behind someone's back or safely on the internet behind the computer screen. to rant is to talk big but to have little balls. ranting also refers to the politically and religiously self riteous who talk a bunch of useless bullshit that makes no difference but expects everyone to aggree.

some guy made a bunch of nasty racist rants on the internet because he knew if he did it face to face he would have gotten his fucken face kicked in.

A nerd way of succinctly ending a rant typically on an internet blog or message board. By invoking a semblance of programming code, the nerd hopes to appease fellow nerds with a chuckle, while also disarming readers with a framing device to lesson the impact of their prior inflammatory words.

..so that's why george lucas having kids ruined the entire star wars franchise for the rest of us. /rant.

To vent your frustration; either loudly or through the Internet. Most people prefer the Internet, like going to VentNation.com or related sites, or going bat s--t crazy and ranting in someone's face. Sports fans and TV personalities enjoy ranting the most, and so do girls amongst their friends.

Person 1: Why are you ranting?
Person 2: Because I'm unemployed. I don't have a girl. I hate my life! FML!

Ranting is speaking your mind. Soft, spiritual minded people or groups call speaking your mind ranting when they don't want to hear about the subject. Soft, spiritual folks don't rant, they speak their minds. Only other people rant.
