Someone who is older than you, or higher than you. Translated it means senpai in japanese.

"He greatly respects Mamoru, who is an upperclassman at his school."

underclassmen

usually meaning the lowest grade of students in a school.(9th,10th,11th grade is also debatable, for examples)
in movies and t.v. shows, they are usually depicted as beady eyed kids that for some reason envy the upperclassmen almost as if they are god amoungst men..
but in real life they are generally ungreatful little snots that think they are tough/cool.oh and i never said they are all like this...

upperclassman

Any student in a high school other than a freshman. These students are usually pretty normal, but for some of them, the evolution from frosh to non-frosh makes them into total jackasses. These jackass-upperclassmen should be avoided by freshmen at all costs.

Upperclassman: Hey, you're a freshman, right?
Freshman: Uh ... yeah?
Upperclassman: Go clean the floor with your tongue.

Underclassmen

Children who are obsessed with making pointless Facebook statuses, usually consisting of "LIKE DIS STATIS IF U WANNA B IN MY BOX!!!" or "Omgg he dusnt liek me....**** lol (:" and potentially causing social problems/embarrassing themselves (you can't spell embarrass without ASS!) by copy/pasting pictures of themselves next to some other child in Microsoft Paint and attaching a stupid caption written in Comic Sans asking people to pick who is more attractive, then tagging random people in said picture on Facebook. Belong on MySpace with the other children.

8th grader: oMGGGGGG LOL your pix is cuteee<3**&F/ehd
9th grader: HEY L0L GIRL<3 ADD ME T0 UR BOX WHORE333 LMAOOO
10 grader: co0oo0ol. going to bed. your stiupid. don't text.*
Everyone else: Shut the fuck up, you stupid underclassmen.

uberclassman

A highschool upperclassman drowning in a mixture of pride, overachievement and entitlement. Amazed by their own intellect and personal growth, they often go on "crusades" to right social wrongs(crusade being defined as :a.) a minor inconvience b.) a large number of people dying on the other side of the world(uberclassmen think its revolutionary to say that genocide is bad)).

Wow, that uberclassman is a prick.
